The Extra 300S is one of the best known and most efficient man-carrying aerobatic-airplanes our time. As model it is offered in different sizes for long time. The flight characteristics of this type are so convincingly that we decided, apart from a version with 1800 mm wingspan, to add another version in the 3-m-class to our program. Models of this large-scale class are seen lately more often on our airfields. Extremely favorable flight characteristics and absolutely scale flight performances are responsible for the unusual spreading of these large-scale models. Therefore it was our target to offer with these large Extra a model of the absolute top class. Proportions, profiles and all other parameters important for optimal flight characteristics were tested by French competition pilots and designed into this Extra. As for the so-called 3D-aerobatics very low wing load is required, our kit is optimized for low weight. The basic kit is supplied with light weight fibreglass-sandwich-parts and a hollow-cut styrofoam wing, which is covered with selected balsa. The servo slots with attachment blocks and the cable channel for two servos for each aileron and for each elevator side are already built in. The 50 mm connection tube for the wings, as well as the stabilizer connection tube are supplied in very light weight, but extremely stable carbon fibre. The engine can be attached directly to the firewall of the fuselage. In the Competition version we offer a Kevlar-Carbon-Herax fuselage, which is manufactured with the vacuum method and has a weight under 1,4 kilograms. But it is still extremely stable and pressure resistant. Besides, with this version the landing gear is made of carbon fiber and the frame record of carbon fiber-coated balsa. While the standard construction kit has a weight of approximately 7,6 Kilos inclusive putting, landing gear, frame record etc., theCompetition version construction kit offers a weight of under 7,0 Kilos. Thus flying weights are realizable starting from 13,5 Kilos depending upon motorizing and surface finish. Resulting from it the flight performances and characteristics are gigantic. About 50 kilograms static thrust with a 150 ccm engine and with a wing load of 80 - 90 g/dm2 permit breath-taking aerobatics. The slow-flight characteristics are extremely good, so that the model is not only suitable for the expert.
